We are excited to announce our new Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program based at the Bybee Lakes Hope Center Victory Garden. We will focus on crafting cut flowers into beautiful floral bouquets to offer during the summer of 2026.
The CSA model has its roots in the work of Black farmers in the American South. In the 1970s, Dr. Booker T. Whatley of Alabama developed the concept to provide direct community support for Black farmers who were often denied access to federal loans and funding. Families would contribute at the start of the season and return throughout the year to harvest their share. (Learn more about the history of CSA courtesy Northeast Organic Farming Association/ Massachusetts Chapter.)
While our program does not sell fresh produce—so that we can maximize donations to the Bybee Lakes Hope Center kitchen—our Cut Flower CSA follows a similar model. By supporting this initiative at the BLHC Victory Garden, you help create a sustainable source of funding for gardening workshops, educational activities, and community programs.
Join Us for Our Inaugural Year!
Get in on the ground floor by becoming one of our initial CSA subscribers! Your subscription will help support the work we do for Veterans and the transitional community at our flagship Bybee Lakes Hope Center Victory Garden.
For a share price of $300, you will receive a fresh bouquet of flowers every other week from July through the middle of October, 2026. Additional donations to achieve our goal will help sustain and expand operations this year and next!
For your convenience, pickup locations will be available throughout the Metro area (N, SE, Beaverton, Vancouver). While we will do our best to accommodate your preferred location, space is limited at some sites. If your first choice is full, we will reach out to you to select an alternate location.
The base price is $300 per share. An additional program donation of $150 is encouraged. We have a limited number of shares available. In addition to our Cut Flower CSA subscription, we are offering some exciting one-time "Add-ons" to enhance your own garden. With a full CSA share, you will be eligible to purchase these Add-ons:
- Veggie Starts ($30): Top-producing vegetable starts for your own garden (June)
- Mystery Box ($50): A variety of arts and crafts to add interest to your garden (August)
- Native Starts ($50): Several varieties of native, low maintenance plants to fill in your landscape (September)
